School Renewal Work
The High Impact Leadership (HIL) Project supports each participating school through:
- Implementation Facilitator and on-site support
- School Renewal Rounds
- Leadership Summits for Principals and Teacher Leaders
- Monetary Support
- Professional Learning and Resources for schools and families
Implementation Facilitators and On-Site Support
Implementation Facilitators meet regularly with school principals and teacher leaders to support development and integration of the four High Impact Leadership Principles and work through the phases of the School Renewal Cycle. Facilitators "walk alongside" school leaders as they implement evidence-based literacy practices, with fidelity and integrity.
School Renewal Rounds
When school teams purposefully watch and reflect on their practices, they are better able to sustain motivation, focus, and positive growth. Collaborative observation methods, like School Renewal Rounds, Learning Walks, and walk-thrus increase collaboration, reduce barriers, and increase social trust. School Renewal Rounds—a practice based upon the Instructional Rounds Process (City, Elmore, Teitel, 2009)—allow HIL Project schools to look for broad patterns of interaction based on objective, observable evidence (Roberts, 2012).
Periodic Leadership Summits allow HIL Project School Leadership Teams (principals and teacher leaders) to gather for learning, collaboration, and dedicated work time to advance through the HIL School Renewal Cycle. Leadership Summits, whether they are live events or virtual engagements, help focus and energize teams around specific aspects of the exciting work of school renewal and literacy achievement for all students.
